Project description

Every time we visit a website, we’re asked to accept cookies. This project began with a simple question: why do we click Accept All even when we know our data is being collected?

CRUMBS is a speculative bakery brand inspired by the double meaning of the word Cookie. It translates digital consent systems into a physical bakery experience through branding, packaging and printed ephemera.

Across the visual identity, menus, packaging and receipts, the project recreates the warm, reassuring language that platforms use to make surveillance feel helpful, personal and convenient. But the closer you look, the more that language begins to reveal what happens behind digital consent: profiling, prediction, behavioural targeting and third-party sharing.

You think you are buying cookies, but the system is buying you.

CRUMBS explores how graphic design can shape behaviour by manufacturing trust and the illusion of free choice, inviting viewers to question what they’re really agreeing to every time they click Accept All.
