The Seen & The Unseen Story 

This is a story of seeing the unseen reality behind the beautiful plant. My memories of this plant are sweet. They were a part of my childhood holidays creating colour in a forest of green. Behind them they are the most invasive species in Scotland. An uncontrollable plant it engulfs the forest floor. Removing the chance of other plants growing.   

Through the methods of Screen Printing and Letter Press I explored how this story can be communicated. 

This was a response to Humphry Repton’s Red Books from the Edinburgh University Special Collections. Comprising of etchings depicting the current views of Valleyfield, Rosyth, a garden designed by Humphry Repton in 1803. Alongside there is information on the alternative views of the many. 

Within I used etching and letterpress linked to the skills used to create many of Repton’s publications.
