My name is Abbie Stewart and I’m an intermedia-based artist from Edinburgh. My art practice serves as a visual diary that seeks to bring to life the otherwise-untranslatable responses I have to the world around us.

Through my diverse employment of materials and processes, collaging of both my own archival and found imagery  – my work carves a playful, free space for personal negation both for myself and for audiences.

With each new chapter of my life I explore my creative process changes. Although a consistent element to my making is the unition of digital manufacturing such as photoshop, laser cutting, wood cut, screenprint and more crafty processes such as collage, mark making and painting.

Another essential component of my practice has always been the employment of personal, archival images which I collage with found images sourced from the news or popular media. Combining my personal imagery and the more interpretable imagery from the news and wider world means my works can both retain personal significance yet be read within the context in which it lives. Allowing for two perspectives – my own and the audiences to co-habit harmoniously.
