Anne’s practice involves working with time and history centred around drawing and painting architecture. The artist is fascinated by how a building is made and the impact a structure has on a viewer. Having a background in foster care and growing up in a house full of builders she came to appreciate the impact a structure has on a person and the time and effort it takes to create a building and a home. Working with watercolour, oil pastel and ink the artist creates detailed works in which the artist pours emotion and memories into each piece. After falling in love with architecture, especially complex and quirky structures around Edinburgh and London, the artist wanted to take this further and work with colour, especially the medium which is oil pastel and created works from her time in Florence capturing the beauty and the historical significance of this amazing city. From doing this she found she wanted to have more characteristics in her works which was where her mini-series came about in which the artist creates detailed pieces of different brick structures.
