Located within the White House in Craigmillar, this project explores how interior design can support the longevity of community textiles through material reuse and collective making. The proposal introduces a space for textile repair, learning and shared craft practices, encouraging sustainable behaviours within the local community. Through this process, the design demonstrates how waste materials can be revalued and extended beyond their original lifecycle, while supporting collaborative creativity and skill-sharing.
An interest in circular thinking, material responsibility, and community engagement drives this project. It challenges the culture of disposability by reimagining overlooked materials and extending their lifespan through thoughtful interior design. At its core, the proposal explores how spaces can foster craft, repair and knowledge exchange, creating more sustainable relationships between people, materials and the environments they inhabit.
