Yousuf Malik

'Flux' explores surreal and distorted realities, a blurred experience of dissociation and dreams. 

These photographs were carefully constructed with a focus on texture, colour and movement. These elements tie together the wide range of abstract forms found in the images and aim to bring out a sensory aspect within the work.  

A core inspiration behind the project is a fragmented and hazed childhood memory of light dancing under a body of water. In addition to atmospheric electronic music. 

As the work developed from abstract floral frames and colour fields into portrait photography, a harmonious blending was formed through risograph printing. This repetitive process allowed for spontaneity and foggy dreamlike layers. All in a style that retains the intended psychedelic undertone of the project.
