Beyond the Line-Up: Female DJ Representation in Edinburgh’s Underground Music Scene is a documentary photography project exploring the role, presence, and visibility of female DJs within Edinburgh’s underground electronic music culture. Through a combination of film and digital photography, the project documents club nights, performances, backstage moments, and the wider community surrounding the scene.

The work aims to highlight the women contributing to and shaping Edinburgh’s nightlife while addressing the gender imbalance that continues to exist within electronic music spaces. By focusing on both the atmosphere of underground events and the individuality of the DJs themselves, the project captures the energy, creativity, and community that exist beyond the line-up poster.
