Art-Work? investigates the intersection of creative and practical skills that have been passed down through generations of my family and how they manifest in my artistic process. Using materials sourced exclusively from building supply stores and using methods, such as carving, traditionally used in carpentry, joinery and woodwork, my work explores how these processes become an inherited language, inseparable from my own craft. The work prioritises process over refinement and aesthetic form. The tools, pencil marks, rough edges, and repetition serve as signs of visible effort or investment. They become records of action, craft, and ritual of an accumulated history.
