Fast paced coffee culture often overlooks craftsmanship. Material Grounds, a café and roastery housed in the former Bernat Klein Studio, offers a more intentional, architecturally grounded experience. Drawing on sensory descriptions from Klein’s daughter’s memoir, the brand is built from the studio’s structural blueprints, with a motion system inspired by both these forms and the rhythm of a weaving loom, that extends across all touchpoints.

About Me

Hi I’m Annie! My work is research led, with a focus on typography, motion and the small details that create memorable experiences.

My portfolio spans branding, publication and campaign work, often exploring how design connects people and creates impact, from consumer to planet.

Alongside my studies, I cofounded a student led design agency built on experimentation and have worked on live briefs with clients including NHS Lothian, Scouts Scotland and Edinburgh Filmhouse.
