This project focuses on Granton Beach, a once-bustling coastal area in Edinburgh that now faces environmental neglect. By revitalising this site through a marine sustainability programme, the design aims to reconnect children with the natural world.
While the centre itself is located on Leith Walk, its mission reaches out to the shore, encouraging young visitors to explore, care for, and learn from Granton’s marine environment through interactive exhibits and hands-on activities.
My personal manifesto centres around creating meaningful spaces that educate and inspire future generations. As a mature student transitioning into design, I’m especially drawn to projects that merge creativity with social purpose.
This project reflects my belief in the power of design to foster empathy, environmental responsibility, and community awareness, turning a simple visit into a lasting impression of care for our oceans and coasts.
