Bio

b. Bogotá Colombia, work and live in Edinburgh, Scotland UK.

In my artistic practice, the act of making is just as important as the final shape of the work. The repetitive nature of my processes, involving hand-building and casting, makes my way of working meditative and rhythmic by nature. Through repeating elements I’m able to work practically with the themes of transformation, interconnectedness, and the interplay between material and immaterial worlds embedding the work with these aspects from the moment of its conception.

I rely on materials and processes that embody transformation. During my studies, I felt drawn to clay for its versatility, as it can shift from liquid to solid; to bronze, as it undergoes a cycle of liquefaction and solidification symbolising renewal; and to glass, which balances fragility and strength while shifting between transparency and opacity. Each of these materials is both ordinary and meaningful, reinforcing my exploration of the subconscious and the potential for inner transformation.

Impressions No.3,  2025

Ceramics on Canvas

94 x 97cm

Originally conceived with the concept of “white passing,” this work explores themes of identity and bias within my practice. It comprises over 1,600 individually hand-cast, fired, and glazed ceramic bubbles, arranged in a beehive pattern on canvas. Cast from bubble wrap, these ceramic forms symbolise the desire for recognition beyond surface appearances. The piece alludes to the tension between the longing to be pressed, to be asked, seen, and understood for who we truly are, and the need for a platform to express the rich and complex tapestry of identity. I hope this work invites viewers to reflect on their own assumptions and the unseen realities that shape our experiences and sense of self.

Tide and Temper, 2025

Glass and Steel
 130 x 230 x 70cm

This piece was inspired by water and the calming effects rain and waterfalls have on the human psyche. For this project I chose to work with glass due to its ability to exist as a solid and fluid element which speaks of the possibilities for transformation. The final work consists of over 300 pieces of glass, fired at over 1000°C, drilled and tied together by hand with steel rings. The process of firing or slumping strengthens the glass, softens the edges and crystallises the glass in its liquid state.

Cycles of Making (Vessel of Intent Series), 2025

Bronze and Steel

57 x 60cm

Cycles of Making is the latest work from my Vessel of Intent series which I started in 2023. This series was influenced by four-fold maps depicting different stages of a process, such as the seasons or the tarot suits and the archetypal period they represent: Inspiration, Planning, Making and Completion. The work features 11 coins I’ve cast in bronze, arranged in an ever-flowing fountain in a manner they recall the idea of a wishing well. Overall this piece states how realising any idea into material isn’t a linear process but a constant one involving steady resolve and gradual improvement.
