Project description

This collection reflects my personal journey across different cultures. Inspired by my experiences growing up between China and Macau, and now living in Edinburgh, I combine traditional craftsmanship with contemporary Western influences. The designs draw upon Macau’s fusion of Chinese and Portuguese heritage—its ornate ironwork patterns, distinctive stone pavements, and soft architectural colours—together with the coastal culture and Mazu beliefs that shaped my upbringing. These visual and cultural memories are translated into modern silhouettes through explorations of structure, texture, and material contrast, creating a dialogue between fluidity and formality. Set against the Victorian architecture and rich historical atmosphere of Edinburgh, the collection becomes a reflection of how place, identity, and heritage continuously evolve. Through this collection, I aim to celebrate my heritage with openness and warmth, translating cultural memories into contemporary forms that connect the past and present, and express the vitality born from cultural exchange.
