'Soft Chaos in Oil'
Contemporary Art Practice MA Degree Show, July 2025
Soft Chaos in Oil is a series of paintings that reflects my journey as an artist and student during my time in Edinburgh. Coming from a background in traditional illustration and local myths in Thailand, I’ve always been drawn to classical painting styles especially oil on canvas. Studying contemporary art in the UK challenged me to explore new contexts, themes, and materials, blending my passion for old techniques with new ideas.
This series reimagines iconic works from Western art history by adding playful, humorous elements from modern life. Inspired by a trip to Italy where I saw many historical masterpieces in person, I began to think about how these grand, serious paintings could be interrupted gently by the absurdities of today.
