ACES Edinburgh is a Widening Participation programme for eligible S4 to S6 students at state secondary schools in the south-east of Scotland who wish to study a visual creative subject such as art, design or architecture. It offers events and activities to help young people better understand their chosen subject and prepares them for the application process. Find out more on the ACES webpage and join us today.
Here are some insights into why our young curators made their choices:
“The concept design and mood boards are well presented, showcasing sharp attention to details in the environment and how people interact with the spaces around them. The integration of biophilic principles and how the texture and colour harmonise with the rest of the surroundings caught my eye.” Abhinav
"The attention to detail and the use of different fabrics creates an eye-catching and memorable piece." Amelia
"The size of the paintings has an impact in the way the art is viewed. It has this uncomfortable feel while at the same time you feel drawn to the piece." Anjola
"The usage of sound, colour and objects to make a scene is really well put and I like the colours because it feels fresh to look at as well as the sounds of the water." Blessing
"Their work is very eerie and striking with the use of grim details like blood, which effectively catches my eye." Selma
