Bio

Nora Strömberg is a composer, producer, musician, songwriter, and singer originally from the Swedish West Coast. During her degree at Edinburgh, she has focused on composition for screen, studying courses in composition and sound design for film and game. By 2025, she has collaborated with directors across the world to compose the original scores for six films with another five lined up for production in summer 2025. When she's not composing for visual media, she pursues projects as a song-writer and producer.

About me

I've been involved in dramatic productions for as long as I can remember. Although my musicianship also originates in early childhood, I started out in the industry as an actor, working in professional contexts on stage and screen. As a teenager, I pursued highly academic work, studying literature and psychology at the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. This is why focusing on composition at the University of Edinburgh seemed like a natural choice for me. It has allowed me to develop my analytical ability and creativity specifically in relation to film and music, preparing me for a career as a film and media composer. In my fourth and final year, I have focused on composition and sound design for both film and interactive media, programming sound and music with interactive game software like Unity and Wwise. For my final portfolio piece, I scored a feature film of 50 minutes, challenging my standard practice by creating a hybrid score of both sound design and traditional composition.

Honours Portfolio Submission - Rescoring 'No Country for Old Men'

This final project includes six rescored scenes from the Coen brothers' 'No Country for Old Men' (2007). The film focuses on silence and sound, and the score mixes acoustic instruments and synthetic elements, incorporating recorded audio and sound design into the musical score. This clip is the final scene of the film.
