At its heart, the collection explores the theme of a duality between innocence and corruption, as well as layered identities that are central literary motifs translated visually and texturally into the clothing. The muted palette of black and beige, offset with rich burgundies and stark whites, mirrors the intellectual rigour and solemnity of the characters’ academic lives, while the intricate textures of lace and felted crochet allude to the novel’s hidden tensions and moral ambiguity.
