Bio

I transferred into second year of the Performance Costume course after doing two years of Fashion at the University of Edinburgh as I found the briefs and subject matter more inline with my personal interests and style. I lean towards most creative crafts and mediums in my personal projects and have found this translates well into the diverse range of skills we need in costume design. I tend to use paint and sketching to visualise my silhouettes and my interest in fibre arts to create textiles.

Marcia Overstrand - Magyk

The character of Marcia Overstrand is from the book Magyk by Angie Sage which is set in the future in a post technological society with magyk. Marcia is the Extra-Ordinary lead wizard in charge of protection of the city and has an all purple outfit. I designed this project for a TV series of which only a pilot episode script was produced, and the author was kind enough to share it with me. Using this script, I was then able to adapt my ideas from the book into a physical costume.

The Maiden - The Maiden's Castle

I created an immersive, family - friendly performance experience aimed at family groups with younger children to educate about Scottish mythology and the local area. It is set in April in the forest above the town of Dollar. Dollar Glen is home to Castle Campbell, which is situated on an isthmus between the Burn of Sorrow and the Burn of Care, and has a rich history and various legends, including stories of the Maiden’s Well. The audience are taken on a quest through the castle and its grounds, guided and helped – or hindered – by various other Scottish mythological characters and creatures.

The Maiden is a local myth describing a princess imprisoned in the castle and in her grief, was taken by the fairies and became a mist spirit.
