Project description

Personal Archive is a photographic and textual exploration of memory, loss, and the lingering traces of disaster, centered on two earthquake-stricken peninsulas in Japan: Oshika, shaped by the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, and Manazuru, marked by the devastation of the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake. Rooted in a journey across these coastal regions, the project draws upon photography, archival research, and creative writing to examine how trauma persists in both landscape and personal memory.
