This project aims to transform the historic Custom House in the Leith community of Edinburgh into a modern cultural arts center. By studying the relationship between the site and its surrounding environment, including interactions with people, buildings, and the community, it explores how design can achieve the building's openness and enhance its connectivity with the surrounding area. The design strategy not only focuses on the renovation of the building itself but also on how to open up spaces, connect streets, and integrate into the community to enhance the vibrancy and cultural interaction of the entire area. This design strategy will help create a more organic and cohesive community environment, making the Custom House not only a preserved historical heritage but also an integral part of community life and cultural exchange.
