Project description

Deadwood floats in the river, culture floats in the long river of history, and life floats in the long river of time.
This is both the end and the starting point. When the sound of the Viking horns gradually faded away, the stacked driftwood gradually disappeared without a trace, and even the huge glaciers disappeared.

Everything was flowing forward irrevocably, just like this big river...

A TWO-WAY JOURNEY

Driftwood, from north to south. People, from south to north.

The journey of driftwood is actually the journey of human civilization. From drifting on the sea to finally landing, it slowly changes towards the depths of the land. From purely natural wooden blocks, they become fences in agricultural production or become wooden crafts in the hands of artists. Behind the wood lies Iceland's long-standing folk culture and beliefs.

At different stages, the driftwood has transformed into different things and symbols. This project will plan a route that not only fits the lives of local people, but also can become an experience journey for tourists. Through the different roles of the driftwood, the significance of the driftwood will be remembered.

THROUGH THE DRIFTWOOD WINDOW

When we stand here, looking at the turbulent river sweeping away everything we still have but are passing away, perhaps we can better understand how to cherish every frame and moment of the present.

FAREWELL OF DRIFTWOOD

Through these 'windows' of driftwood, people will witness the farewell of the driftwood.

Through these wooden windows carved by sea water, we not only witness the magnificence of natural power but also experience the impermanence and beauty of life.

Each piece of driftwood tells a story, and their cracks and textures reveal the imprint of nature and time, reminding us that even seemingly eternal landscapes are quietly changing every second.
