People’s Bridge or Waverly Commnuity Bridge is an occupied bridge and multifunctional facility situated to the east of Edinburgh Waverley Station, spanning across Jeffrey Street and Calton Road. It is designed to address various needs of the local community, creating a holistic environment that addresses various dimensions of poverty and social vulnerability. The complex consists of a pedestrian bridge connecting four distinct blocks, including: Food Block, Community Hub, Learning Center, and Accommodation Zone, each strategically planned to offer specialized support and resources tailored to different aspects of community needs, including food security, social engagement, education, and housing stability. Together, the bridge aims at promoting empowerment, social inclusion, and well-being.
