Edinburgh University is a well-known and sought after institution, and for a working class person something that's not always achievable. Throughout my studies I decided to focus on aspects of life from a working-class eye. I am a 24 year old student that has worked from the age of 15, and has grown up in a working class household, and contrasting this lifestyle to the surroundings of the Edinburgh University was something I found really interesting. My work this year mainly focuses on the diet of a working class household and some of the cheap and cheerful dinners that I, and many other working-class households, have endured. These dinners were all voted for and are the most popular choices of the 'council style' dinners and meals and gentrified these into cool and trendy posters, that every household can enjoy regardless of their class. Food and the working class is also prominent to me as I've mainly worked in a hospitality setting serving gorgeous and extravagant food only to go home and enjoy something that's main purpose is to be quick and cheerful. Some of the areas of being working class are really serious- and that's just not me- so doing something that was fun, light-hearted and relatable is where most of my projects lead and a direction I usually take.
