Bio

Hello! Thank you for looking through my degree show page!

I am an illustrator based in the UK and Lithuania. I specialise in narrative driven illustration, with an emphasis on comics. Storytelling has been a crucial element for my work throughout my time at ECA and in my final year I was able to expand on this and create a diverse collection of illustrated narratives.

In my practice, I mostly use traditional media with some digital elements. I enjoy experimental and quick methods of working and often combine multiple mediums in my illustrations.

Here I am presenting you my most significant work from my final year at ECA. Way Out, a picture book about loss; How To Make Ur problems Shrink Away, an experimental zine; and Peter 4:18, a comic for a collaborative zine, with Joseph Chung, Ocean Redgrave, and Peter Tilley.

Way Out

A lost protagonist enters a mysterious and frightening forest. Where is the way out? Way Out is a 32-page picture book uses visual metaphors to represent the process of loss and grief and explore how these emotions affect one's identity. Although loosely based on autobiographical experiences of grief, this wordless book encourages the reader to apply their own narrative to the images. This makes it an exciting story for readers of any age and background. The picture book was painted in black and white and coloured in digitally. The full picture book can be viewed in the link, titled Way Out, above.

How To Make Ur Problems Shrink Away

How To Make Ur Problems Shrink Away is an experimental comic/zine exploring the more humorous side of occasionally  feeling too big and too tall. The story exhibits elements of real life with a sci-fi twist. The imagery was made using a combination of ink drawings collaged with plasticine figures, 3D models made using MS Paint 3D and Blender, and has bits of colour added digitally too. The .pdf to the full zine is linked at the top of the page.

Peter 4:18

Peter 4:18 is a comic for a collaborative horror zine The Wednesday 6.66k. Employing biblical motives and analysis of the horror genre, the comic explores a story of rage, punishment, and forgiveness. The comic was made using black and white gouache and an accent colour was added digitally. The full comic can be read on my website, where you will also find a link to the zine.
