My artistic journey, centred around observing and caring for 'Bary,' the Himalayan Balsam, reflects a profound commitment to giving a voice to a plant that society deems it an offense. The erasure of information about Bary's preferences in terms of shade and watering intensifies the challenge, creating a space to reclaim Bary's voice, showcase its culture and identity, and explore the controversy within its existence. Building on my previous series which focused on deconstructing language and challenging colonial notions of identity, my current exploration delves into the contested nature of space. This exploration extends beyond physical dimensions to encompass the emotional aspects of space, inviting a nuanced examination of the political and contested nature of borders, seas, and oceans.
