Bio

I enjoy responding to the world around me through my illustrations, whether by working collaboratively or even just observational drawing. My practice varies widely and I bring a sense of play to each new piece.

This year I have continued to build on my illustration practice, working between digital drawing tools and analogue techniques. I have experimented with printmaking throughout my degree and the graphic shape language of block printing is something I emulate even when drawing digitally. Building on previous work with various local groups and publications, I have designed posters and editorial illustrations and – as a co-founder and member of queer zine collective G*NDERSHIT – I have been able to apply my skillset to a whole range of uses, from social media graphics to printmaking workshops. For my longer projects this year, I developed my visual storytelling with two short autobiographical comics, a medium I hope to explore more in future.

Where Are You From?

Memoir comic collating my own relationship with national identity, the history of my family's migration to the US, and how we've stayed connected to our Korean roots.

Look See

Short graphic novel exploring my feelings of outsiderhood.

I founded G*NDERSHIT Zine Collective with three other illustrators in 2021 and we registered as a company in 2022. Each of our main three zines explore queer experience of spaces, with our most recent PARTYSCAPE issue focused on queer nightlife. I designed prints, sticker and posters around this theme as well as an individual zine around my experience of finding community.

This year we've sold at markets, run workshops, and held a club night to launch issue #3. We donate all profits from our zines and other merchandise to trans mutual aid funds in the UK.
