Project description

In recent years, the debate on whether our relationship with pets should be termed "ownership" or "guardianship" has gained traction. Interestingly, over ten thousand years ago, humans domesticated animals primarily for functional purposes. Over the millennia, the relationship between humans and pets has continuously evolved. Alongside these changes, ethical issues such as overbreeding, pet abandonment, and animal hoarding have also emerged. This raises the following question: are these ethical concerns connected to the transformation of human-pet relationships?

Tangyuan is a cuddly robotic pet & companion that can hug you, engage in eye contact, make a soothing noise when you groom it, and most importantly, let you feel its heartbeat. Designed to mimic the emotional and physical interactions of real pets, it provides comfort and companionship without the challenges of caring for a real pet. This innovative robot integrates technology with a feeling of warmth to create an experience that is both therapeutic and joyous, making it the perfect companion for individuals who desire the benefits of a pet but may face restrictions such as financial limitations or allergies. Its sophisticated design integrates responsive behaviors and emotional intelligence, allowing it to perceive and react to the mood and needs of its users.

By redefining how we perceive pets, Tangyuan challenges traditional pet definitions and sets a new standard in the realm of companion robots, enhancing the ways we can interact with robotic technology in our personal lives.
