Bio

I am an illustrator, visual artist and art-educator and all things in between. Originally from Assam and currently based in Edinburgh. As a practicing visual artist my interests lie in the overlap of science and media studies. I have a keen interest in grassroots level education through play and curricula development. Illustration gives me a way to engage with these interests critically while also drawing and printing my heart out.

I am currently working on building a portfolio in the space of editorial illustration and publishing while also making some hand drawn experimental animations.

Project description

An Island in the Atlantic is a semi autobiographical work inspired by both real and imagined events.

Potol is a boy living in Dibrugarh in the 1950's. Named after a vegetable, he sees no value in his existence. Desperate to leave something behind he collects objects for posterity. Unfortunately, an earthquake shakes an entire region changing the course of the river and taking the town with it.

In this iteration, through a journal we follow Potol as he explores an unknown island through its uncanny stories, plants and animals and some quirky creatures he meets along the way.

Years later, in the present, we find the journal in the Isle of Mull inside a suitcase.
