About the Project

Acting as Set Designer for EU Footlights’ production of Guys and Dolls required an element of visual storytelling and worldbuilding to create an engaging set which immersed the audience in the show’s narrative. Being set in 1940s New York, the design process involved researching the historical context of the time to reimagine Times Square in a typographically accurate way. Working on such a large scale and having to overcome logistical challenges meant that the 32 signs had to be individually laser cut from cardboard light enough to hang from the stage lighting rigs, whilst maintaining accessibility and appeal.
