Bio

This practice investigates land husbandry: the care, cultivation, and breeding of crops and animals … management and conservation of recourses.

Through exploratory methods, it engages with specific environments that example agricultural, war, and waste interventions. To uncover their relational ecologies, their depiction is intersected with visual devices.

The aim of this is to create a visual anthology that reconciles with the husbandries of specific sites and to add to a dialogue of human ecology.

Both reckon with agricultural methods that intervene on the landscape; the former as the submerged channels that de-compact soil to encourage root growth and improve irrigation, the latter as the aggressive pruning of trees to elongate life and control canopy growth. In both cases, I aim to uncover there relational husbandry by intersecting the scene with the block.

This work brings together waste, agriculture, and war interventions into one image, providing a visual anthology of relational husbandries specific to Lothian.

To further emphasise the notion of intervention, I have re-organised the image to create a landscape made of intervention.

GREENHOUSE COLLECTIVE

The GREENHOUSE COLLECTIVE - started 2024 - brings together ECA artists who concern their practice with the notion of ecology and growth. We are an non-hierarchical collective that welcome all who deal with this subject, and aim to create a space for collaborative, supportive, and inter-artistic research. In March we showed at the ECA (above) and hope to continue this after art school, which has for all of us, been a kind of greenhouse.
