Art Practice Statement.

At the heart of my artistic exploration lies the circle: a shape that embodies infinite possibility, continuity, and connection. This elemental form serves as both muse and method, guiding my journey into the depths of materiality and the exploration of form and beauty. My work is a dialogue between the abstract and the tangible, where the circle acts as a lens through which my art practice evolves – exploring how this simple structure can be represented, interpreted and expressed. My process is one of constant evolution, a process that leads to a series of repetitive explorations where each piece is both an answer and a question, each image serves as a pause in the infinite dialogue of creation. It is through the act of making, of manipulating materials with my hands and tools, that my practice evolves, as the process of making becomes the object of intense investigation and exercise. My practice therefore invites an examination of not only the creation of these pieces but how when placed into physical space, through manipulation of light and display, their energies can change.

The structure’s ability to spin became a kinetic emphasis of circular form

Through focusing on highlighting the unique textures of the raw materials I work with. By applying different processes and manipulating the materials in various ways, I explore how their appearances change. Through careful display, I also work with light to enhance and transform these materials, revealing their distinct qualities in new and intriguing ways.

Inspiration from my process of making

My work has taught me to appreciate each part of the creative process. By documenting each stage along the way, I have built an extensive portfolio of ideas that I aim to develop further. Below are some interesting images I have taken, which highlight areas where I can push myself further in my artistic journey.
