Wee Bio

Euan McCall is a Scottish artist working in Edinburgh.

His work explores the coastal Fife experience and how the rocks can reflect the dynamic between people and landscape. With an academic interest in Pictish and early Scottish carvings, he attempts to merge his own experience with a much older visual language.

A collection of rocks from locations of personal significance have provided a foundation for the production of his printmaking. Using an adapted form of Gyotaku printmaking, the artist has produced a series of intaglio prints depicting an imagined narrative of the sites of his youth. In these prints the artist explores concepts surrounding origins, heritage and experience.
