Project description

For her collection ‘Hollow Expression’, Cynthia has taken inspiration from natural and manmade hollow/vessel-like forms such as wind instruments, vases, and the twisting branches of corkscrew willow. She wanted to create pieces that held their own energy and motion as if she had taken cuttings from a willow branch and made them wearable; to look like they flow from one another. Cynthia's collection consists of tubes with various profiles, shaped and then refined to highlight their curves, edges, and cross-sections. Her design process involves looking at the lines and edges her inspirations have and developing them to become more dynamic and have greater visual depth.
