Bio

I was born in Hunan, one of the birthplaces of Chinese Nuo culture. Since childhood, I have been fascinated by this region's rich history and cultural heritage. Nuo culture, an integral part of China’s intangible cultural heritage, is deeply rooted here. During my first museum visit, the ancient Nuo masks greatly inspired and moved me. Originating from agricultural societies, Nuo masks were worn to pray for favorable weather and abundant harvests, serving as mediators between humans and nature.

To achieve the desired design effects in my work, I continuously experiment with various chasing techniques and carefully select suitable tools. I strive to depict the profound connection between humanity and nature through hammering and chasing intricate patterns and intertwining lines. My aim is to merge traditional craftsmanship with modern design, promoting and preserving intangible cultural heritage through my art, enabling more people to understand and appreciate this culture

Series One - Between silence and speech

My hometown is one of the cradles of Nuo Mask. I hope to convey and let more people to know about the intangible culture heritage through the combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern design.

Series Two - Flower dance

This collection vividly showcases the unique forms of plants. I seek to capture the vitality and intricate line through the combination of hollows shapes. Also, I explore the interplay between light and space. Allowing the wearer to feel the liveliness of plants and the wonder of nature.

Series Three - Random & Flow

The final chapter of the trilogy symbolizes both an ending and a rebirth. This piece returns to the essence, abandoning complex hammering patterns and exaggerated shapes, presenting itself in a simple and pure form. Each part exists independently, but can also be seen as fragments split from a whole. Reflecting the continuous process of decomposition and recomposition in the natural world. This piece embodies the complex and intimate connection between humans and nature, and and our symbiotic relationship with the natural world.
