Introduction

Statistics show that around 80% of Scotland’s footprint comes from the products and materials manufacturing and consumption, far exceeding what we need to live well and keep our planet healthy. It is time to rethink our consumption patterns and linear economic systems. Everyone has a role to play in system-wide change, but many seem unaware of their agency or do not know where to start.

ZWL encourages minimizing waste and adopting sustainable practices, providing guidance for making adjustments to various aspects of daily life. This project combines personal experience and primary research to study people's motivations and barriers to act. The findings indicate that individual behavior change requires system-wide support at different social levels. Therefore, I sought to collaborate with zero waste shops, communities and schools to build a better support system. By sharing my own ZWL journey and leveraging mutual influence, I aim to empower and support people to live more sustainably🌿!
