My work focuses on the individual and universal experiences that come with being viewed as a woman and the joy and pain that comes along with it. From the male gaze and its internalisation, how this affects my own view of myself; the virtually inescapable and overwhelming pressure to maintain a constantly changing standard of attractiveness and forever trying to find a line to walk between the guilt and empowerment of sexualising oneself.
Recently I have been focusing on the positives: relationships between women, whether family, friends, lovers etc. offer a space that exists, if only slightly and occasionally, away from these expectations. A glimpse of how lovely life could be.
