Agnes’ work is an exploration of memory and nostalgia. Her paintings aim to teleport you back in time, that melancholy feeling of reliving an aspect of a time in your life you can never recreate. Though many of the moments are individual to her, she intends for the viewer to project their own life upon them. Portraiture is a primary focus in many of her pieces using elements of landscape, symbolism and pattern to, hopefully, better portray the individuals depicted — more than just their appearance but a visual and psychological portrayal. She experiments with collaging imagery together using layering techniques like tracing paper and digital collages to represent the often abstract and simultaneously completely clear nature of memories, as well as their rationality and irrationality.
